Beauty, formulated from within
Beauty-from-within is not a single-ingredient category. Objectives range from skin hydration and barrier support, elasticity and structure, tone and radiance, and resilience to oxidative or photo-induced stress, to stronger-looking hair and nails. Each requires a distinct evidence and formulation strategy.
MORETH develops beauty-health products in Malaysia across collagen-based, collagen-free and hybrid approaches, matching the intended outcome with ingredients, dose, format, sensory profile and market requirements.
What defines the category
Beauty objectives lead the formula. Hydration and barrier function, elasticity and structure, tone and pigmentation, oxidative or photo-induced stress, and hair and nail quality are related but not interchangeable. We define the consumer, measurable outcome and duration before selecting ingredients.
- Ceramides, glucosylceramides or hyaluronic acidmay be considered for hydration or barrier objectives;
- peptides or proteins and vitamin Cfor structure;
- carotenoids and polyphenol-rich botanicalsfor oxidative or photo-induced stress and appearance;
- and adequate protein plus selected micronutrientsfor hair and nails when nutritionally appropriate.
Evidence is preparation-, dose-, population- and endpoint-specific, especially for botanicals, cell-culture biomass and emerging actives.
Each format carries different demands
Sachets, beverages, gummies and capsules each carry different dose ceilings, stability behaviour and flavour demands. Sachet formats in particular live or die on flavour systems. Botanical and cell-culture actives add pH, heat, oxidation, colour, bitterness and dispersibility considerations.
For regional brands, ingredient selection determines more than a claim:
it shapes evidence strength, halal or vegan positioning, sensory design, stability, cost and market reach.
Where expertise counts
Before a beauty-health formulation is finalised, our team assesses seven decisions:
- 01ObjectiveTarget beauty objective and consumer — hydration, barrier function, elasticity, radiance, pigmentation, hair or nail support, with a measurable outcome and realistic duration of use
- 02IngredientIngredient identity, oral-use evidence and studied dose — distinguishing an ingredient with preparation-specific oral evidence from a similarly named topical cosmetic active
- 03ArchitectureActive-system architecture — barrier lipids, peptides or proteins, botanicals, cell-culture biomass, vitamins and minerals selected around the objective without unnecessary stacking
- 04FormatFormat compatibility and sensory performance — solubility, pH, heat, oxygen and light stability, colour, aroma, bitterness, sweetness and serving size
- 05ClaimsClassification and claims — ingredient eligibility, evidence, wording and route of use are reviewed against the applicable Malaysian and destination-market requirements
- 06SourceSource, dietary positioning and certification — animal-, marine-, microbial- or plant-derived materials, vegan status, halal pathway, allergens, traceability and market acceptance across APAC
- 07FeasibilityFull-formula safety and commercial feasibility — total daily intake, ingredient interactions, target cost, MOQ, packaging and shelf life
From Malaysia to APAC
One region, many beauty markets
Ingredient permissions, claim wording and halal expectations differ across APAC — and beauty consumers differ just as much in preferred format and flavour. New botanical or cell-culture ingredients may follow different eligibility or notification pathways by destination.
Adapted per destination
We adapt ingredient eligibility and dose, format, flavour, claims, warnings and certification per market — including JAKIM and BPJPH halal pathways where required.
